Parliamentary Secretary for Mental Health, Suicide Prevention, and Men’s Behaviour Change
As well as representing the electorate of Mordialloc in the Victorian Parliament, I am also honoured to be the Parliamentary Secretary for Mental Health & Suicide Prevention, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Behaviour Change.
Working alongside Minister for Mental Health Ingrid Stitt MP, it is an incredible privilege to contribute to the nation-leading, system-wide reform of our mental health care system. I am passionate about supporting the wellbeing of all Victorians, and supporting a system that allows Victorians to live happier and healthier lives. As part of my work, I also contribute to suicide prevention policy, creating better connections between individuals, their communities and mental health services to reduce mental ill-health. I am extremely lucky to meet the incredible mental health care workers and key organisations that work day in and day out to support Victorians and their wellbeing.
I am also honoured to be working with the Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence, Vicki Ward MP and the whole of the Ministerial Action Working Group established by Premier Jacinta Allan, to partake in nation leading work to address men’s behaviour and violence in our state.
We know that the time to act on men’s violence against women is now and it starts with us men and boys. We must make Victoria a safer place for women and children and work to end the tragedy of deaths of Victorian women at the hands of men. This is the first position of its kind in Australia and will focus largely on the influence the internet and social media have on boys’ and men’s attitudes towards women and building respectful relationships.
Previously, I was the Parliamentary Secretary for Schools between 2018 and 2022, and I was incredibly lucky to contribute to Victoria’s education policy and support our kids through their crucial developmental years. I am extremely passionate about supporting kids with additional needs, and making sure every child has the opportunity to achieve their best in the safest environment, no matter their abilities or position in life.
